Congratulations to the 2017 Mt. Oaks’ AcaDec Team for a Great Showing at the Academic Decathlon Regional Competition with an overall score of 34,835.1! Summerville won with 37,313.4 followed by Bret Harte with 36,858.7 and Tioga with 34,637.9.

Our team of 10 students have been studying World War 2 in class, attended the WW2 Commemoration at Mare Island where we spoke with surviving veterans in their 90’s, toured the museum and the actual LOC #102, attended the Seminar Day in Madera  with professors from the local colleges, participated in the huge Capitol Scrimmage where Kiara H. earned medals in Social Science and Literature, and a docent led trip to the Crocker Art Museum. 

Our Varsity Level is comprised of: Cierra T. who won the Varsity Overall High Score. She also won Golds in Art, Interview, and Speech; Silvers in Essay and Science  and a Bronze  in Music. Carley H. won a Gold in Science, a Silver in Interview, and a Bronze in Art. Cheyenne B. won a Silver in Music.

Our Scholastic Level includes: Kiara H. who won Golds in Language and Literature (with the highest score in this category), Economics, and Science; Silvers in Social Science and Art, and a Bronze in Music. Alexa H. who won Silvers in Math and Music and Bronzes in Science and Art. Liam T. who won a Silver in Science and a Bronze in Essay.

Our Honors level includes: Naomi E. who won a Gold and the highest score in Music. Ryder H. who won a Silver in Math and Julia B. who was the youngest Honors Decathlete.

Our alternate is Isaiah C. who excelled in Social Science.
