Support September as Attendance Awareness Month

The Attendance Awareness Poster Contest is a part of the nationwide campaign to recognize September as Attendance Awareness Month. It is important to understand the connection between school attendance and academic achievement. When a student misses school, they miss out on instruction time. The current state rate is that 1 out of 10 students are chronically absent. A student is considered chronically absent after they miss ten percent (18 days) of their school year. The poster contest is an opportunity for students to share their love for school and why they feel it is so important that kids attend. Winning posters will be reproduced with the artist's name and distributed throughout Calaveras County. Some prizes awarded include cash as well as the grand prize winner becoming "Calaveras County Sheriff for the Day". Help support our students and encourage them to participate with their fellow classmates!
