January is National Mentoring Month, the annual campaign aimed at expanding quality mentoring opportunities to connect more of our country’s young people with caring adults.

Resilience Rising, a live virtual conference presented by the Calaveras Trauma Consortium brought together educators, mental health specialists, parents, and others from around the region, the state and beyond.

On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) staff members donated 35 hats and 30 scarves to the Mark Twain Cancer Treatment and Cancer Care Center in San Andreas.

Part 3 of the series "Where are They Now" is about June McTeer and Nicole Baird, who were a somewhat unusual mentoring pair in that they weren't far apart in age. McTeer, who had just moved home from college when she decided to join the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program (CYMP), was 21 when she was paired with the then 14-year-old Baird.

How much does it matter that your student participates in distance learning? It matters, just as much as when students are on school campuses. The Student Attendance Review Board (SARB) is in full force even during the distance learning model and is focused on supporting families and connecting them with services that will help struggling students get back on a successful track.

The Calaveras Mentoring Foundation presents The Party To Go! on Saturday October 17, 2020 with pick-up times from 3pm to 6pm. A parking-lot pick-up dinner-for-two by Lila & Sage Catering will feature generous baby back ribs, yummy mac and cheese, green salad, artisan bread, and cookies plus a celebratory “party bag” for $80.

Last school year, school sites began to offer the community a place to get information, charge cell phones and get water during the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events. School campuses providing a valuable service to the community did not stop there.
